A green jewel called Drummond Island shines in the river that joins the Great Lakes, Superior and Huron. From this pristine birthplace originated a set of nonfiction horse stories.
The first is, "Clifford of Drummond Island", the story of a crooked-legged runt gelding who arrives after the tragic demise of the "perfect horse". He eventually proves himself in his own quirky way. Further tragedies, humor and adventures unfold in the sequel, "Return to Manitou". Following this is the third book in the series, "Clifford's Bay." The setting is Michigan's beautiful Eastern Upper Peninsula, with its rocky shores, deep woods and unique lifestyle. The books have an interwoven theme about character and overcoming hardships. They are beautifully illustrated with pencil drawings by the author.
Clifford is alive and well and currently working on his current tour schedule. We are working on a 2011 Summer Reading Program, "Horse Tales From Around the World". He is the only horse in the world who signs his own biography. He has appeared at fairs, expos, festivals, and even visited libraries and nursing homes. He is house trained and gentle and reliable with all kinds of people and situations. If you are planning an event, contact me to see how you can hire this very special horse!
